If you’ve already mastered basic trim, the time has come to take the next step in your learning. Our downwind sails course will let you learn to handle the specific sails for sailing downwind: Gennaker, Spinnaker and Code Zero.
This course combines theory and hands-on training on board, designed for you to master both trim and the more advanced manoeuvres, and will take place aboard our yacht “Babe”, a fast, stable boat that offers comfortable sailing in all conditions (a Beneteau Platu 25).
Capacity and instructor
The course is limited to a maximum of eight students on board, ensuring personalised attention and the chance to learn hands-on in a safe environment. The training will be led by Rodolfo Ubertini, a sailing expert renowned for his extensive experience in practical, advanced teaching, who will guide you step by step to improve your skills and confidence on board.
What you’ll learn
- General rigging of the boat: learn how the rig structure works and how to make the most of it
- Types of headsails: Gennaker, Spinnaker and Code Zero, and how to choose the most suitable one according to the wind conditions
- Manoeuvres and trim: techniques to optimise sailing and improve your performance on board
- Emergency or jury rig: preparation for unexpected situations
- Advanced manoeuvres: learn to execute complex techniques safely and efficiently
Requirements
This course is designed for those who have already mastered the basic skills of trim and rigging, which will let you make the most of the advanced training.
Course details
The course will take place on Saturday 27 September, from 10:00 to 18:00, aboard the Babe (Beneteau Platu 25), departing from Valencia Mar. The enrolment price is €160, and members of our Saudade Sailing Club and Velas Blancas clubs can enjoy a 25% discount, by requesting the relevant code in advance.
